It is with a heavy heart that we share the death of one of our founding pups, Jack.

He was always all puppy, and he will be missed.

Our Friends have requested a place

to share stories of their beloved pets.

We hope you find comfort, and some joy in them.

Our friend Marylin Salzman wrote to us

about her dear Buddy:

Buddy Salzman was adopted when he was about a year old back in 2001. He was a “throw away” who literally landed in our driveway. What a find!

Buddy gave us hours and days and months and years of nothing but hugs and licks and everybody (including those who didn’t even like Rottweilers) loved Buddy to pieces. You see, he thought he was a lap dog and had the personality of a clown. He was funny, well-behaved and cherished by just about everyone. When you saw his little nib of a tail wag, you knew you were one of the lucky ones.

About nine months ago he developed an incurable disease called MEGA-ESOPHAGUS which was neurological and affected his ability to swallow; ergo, he kept losing weight and went from his steady 85 pounds down to 70 only able to digest an enriched oatmeal diet supplemented with power powders because everything else (including baby food) wasn’t passing through to his stomach. We took him to several vets who really didn’t know how to deal with this rare ailment so we had him tested for Addison’s disease and myasthenia gravis which both proved to be negative. However, on Saturday, August 15th, he took a turn for the worse and our luck ran out. We had to make the tough decision to euthanize him. Naturally, we are heartbroken and absolutely devastated but we know that he’s romping in Doggy Heaven with Murray who preceded him in death in 2002.

We know that if you were lucky enough to have met Buddy you will miss him; but for those who didn’t have a chance to, you don’t know what you missed. His best pal, Nonnie-Cat 2 is pining for him; they were as snug as two bugs in a rug.

Nothing can replace him but we are on the hunt for a new companion. We’ll keep you posted.

Love,

Marilyn & Fred
